My nephew was in trouble. He knew it, and so did his mother. As she approached the broken lamp he did what any five-year old would do, he closed his eyes so his mother couldn’t see him. He had ample time to ponder why that strategy didn’t work as he sat in his room with no TV or video games for rest of the day. It is what they call a “time out” these days. When I was growing up, I would have loved a time out. A time out from my parent’s punishment would have been a treat. I too used to close my eyes so my parents couldn’t see me. Unfortunately, my credit card company uses the same strategy.
