I saw a Zen saying on a bulletin board the other day that read, “Jump and the net will appear.” My first thought was, “I’ll bet whoever wrote that was a monk who never had a 401(k) during this economy.” I wasn’t entirely proud of my reaction. It came from the same place of panic that I have been warning against since the first mortgage company realized they had been granting loans to people who couldn’t afford a bagel.
