The great columnist and radio host Walter Winchell was famous for creating his own slang (Infanticipate for being pregnant, or calling Chicago gangsters Chicagorillas).  He was once criticized for treating the English language like a mongrel dog, mixing words and phrases together to create an unidentifiable cross-breed of language.  He responded that America itself is a mongrel dog; a mixing of breeds and races whose language should reflect that blend of backgrounds and experience.
